Red-necked Grebe Pair

Red-necked Grebe Pair

After getting a bunch of front-lit portraits of this pair in close range we decided to see what other angles we could shoot. We walked around the other side of the small lake and then instantly saw the opportunity for back-lit shots. We found a spot to get low and I immediately knew it had potential. The pair was swimming around pretty far out but with this lighting, they still stood out nicely. I framed them up at the top of the image to include more of the fun foreground bokeh and got this image. I liked how they both had their beaks open and were looking towards each other.
