Technology is allowing us to do more and more with wildlife photography. Fast glass and cameras that can handle higher ISOs (I still don't love noise reduction software) and stabilization systems in lenses and cameras all allow for lower and lower light shooting and I personally love to push into those boundaries. Each time I worked with this group of Burrowing Owls in a neighborhood park I kept staying later and later into the night with them. I eventually realized that with the street lights, park lights, and car headlights, I could probably shoot for hours in the dark. While these owls are quite acclimated to humans when they venture out of the burrows in the dark they get quite bold and will often land right next to you or even chase prey right next to you. I put on the 70-200mm and shot this at 70mm at f/2.8 in an attempt to show off the park in the background. I think the next time I make it to this park I'll see if I can do more with this type of photography and this fascinating birds.
