At this very urban Florida Burrowing Owl burrow I got in the habit of staying well past sunset each time I spent an evening with them. They become so active at night and if I was in a less urban area it would be far too dark to photograph them. Due to all the lights around this location if I push my settings I can photograph them in the dark. For this image a light in the park lit up the grass in the background which gave me a nice green spotlight of bokeh. I lined up this shot to capture a silhouette of the owl in front of those grasses when a car drove by and the headlights lit the bird up the way you see here whcih was a lovely surprise. this beautiful female which had the crazy cool marbled eyes moved on me last second and made my composition weird but I liked the lighting enough to ignore that.
