Black-throated Blue on the Beach

Black-throated Blue on the Beach

Every time I photographed a new species of warbler on the beach I would think to myself, I can't believe I'm shooting them in such unique habitat. All of these warblers I'm so used to see in the forests and fields in NJ and further north, not on white sandy beaches. The other unique thing was how much I was able to take advantage of golden sunlight at sunrise and sunset for these birds, another thing I don't get to do very often. The always striking Black-throated Blue Warbler thankfully doesn't change it's plumage during the non-breeding season and so the males always have their beautiful colors and black mask. This fella was foraging among the leaf litter right on the edge of the beach.
