Singing Bicknell's Thrush

Singing Bicknell's Thrush

Seeing as though this Bicknell's Thrush is a rare sight in the US I was thrilled with this photo. It was my second time ever seeing one even though I've heard them a few more times than that. The habitat these birds breed in is quite amazing. The high elevation spruce forests are quite an amazing sight to see and a wonderful place to spend time with this great species of bird. Their calls are very beautiful just like most thrush species as well. For this image the bird landed just behind a thick group of branches and I was able to peek aroudn the trunk of a tree in the foreground and catch focus on it. It then started singing and I got this fully open beak shot. I lessened the contrast heavily on the tree trunk to make the bird stand out more.
