Royal Bill
Working with a client on the beach to take advantage of the wonderful backlight with a flock of Royal Terns and Black Skimmers we worked to get unique compositions, taking advantage of some birds in the foreground. As I was moving around and looking through the viewfinder I found this framing of a Royal Tern's bill glowing bright in the sun frame with an out of focus Black Skimmer in the foreground. I had purposefully moved to the right so that I could only see the bird's bill peeking out instead of it's entire head. One advantage of mirrorless cameras is seeing this image almost exactly like this in the viewfinder. In the past with a dSLR this image through the viewfinder would be all bright and it would be a little more difficult to get a sense for the final image. My only regret is that I didn't dip down just a bit to seperate the Royal's bill from the Skimmer's bill, so maybe next time I'll get it right!
