Chasing Salmon

Chasing Salmon

This was my first time ever seeing and photographing Brown Bear and it was quite the experience. My great friend Jamin Taylor took me to this spot in hopes of finding them. We packed up all our gear and started hiking along the walkway near this river. It only took about a mile before we came upon a pair of siblings fishing in the river. We then spent the next two hours watching these bears fish, chase each other, play fight and just relax in and around the river. We both had waders on and were able to get in the shallow river to get a bunch of different perspectives as well as lay down to get these low level perspectives. It rained the entire time and I along with the gear was soaked by the time we wrapped it up but boy was it fun! It was also my first time shooting where I had to be very aware of where the subjects were and keep an eye out for any other arrivals. I'm not used to doing that so needless to say my head was on a constant swivel. I really enjoyed this shot as you could see the large Red Salmon swimming away from the bear.
