Beach Ovenbird

Beach Ovenbird

If you would have told me I would get my favorite Ovenbird photo on a beach in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico in fall I would have laughed at you. Turns out that is exactly what happened during my visit to Dry Tortugas. I mistakenly went on the trip with only a 300mm lens on my full-frame camera not expecting many birds and boy was I surprised. Thankfully the birds were so friendly and didn't mind me at all that 300mm turned out to be just right. I caught this Ovenbird as it was searching the ground for food and it walked right up to me. I liked the fun patterns in the background and thought they made a nice addition to another warbler on the beach photo.
