Watching this baby Common Loon actively climbing onto its parent's back was quite the sight. The little bird's sibling was already in a nice riding spot as this little one decided to join. It always amuses me when this happens how so often the adult rarely looks back to see if the baby is making out ok. Most times the adult continues swimming wherever it was headed and the chicks have to scramble their way up on the already moving ride. I loved how you could see its foot pushing hard to get up where it wanted to on the back of the adult. The light at this point had gotten quite nice and the calm water and green background completed the scene quite nicely.
