I have always found American Avocets to be an incredibly elegant looking bird. The shape of the bill is a big part of that but also the entire bird and it's coloration add up to this spiffy look. The soft light that came from this bird being in the open shade from the very low sun worked out nicely with the soft orange glow of the sun in the distance.
