Chestnut-sided Warbler and Columbine

Chestnut-sided Warbler and Columbine

This handsome Chestnut-sided Warbler was hanging out near a very old abandoned house along an out of the way road. I'm guessing at some point the home owners likely planted this version of Columbine around the area and it continues to survive likely years after it was introduced to the area. I could be wrong but I don't think this colored Columbine is native to northern New Jersey, at least I've never seen any of this color, usually just the standard red and white flowers. it was however a wonderful addition to this singing warbler with his already striking colors.
