I photographed and liked a few Ring-necked Ducks in this same exact scenario but in the end this Mallard Drake provided a better image so I'm sharing this one instead. I certainly fall prey to paying more attention to what I consider more unique species or at least subjects that are more difficult to photograph than a more common species. In the end though I try to always look past the species and when a common species such as this Mallard provides a great photo opportunity I try to take advantage of it.
