I walked into the forest on this particular morning with my favorite wedding photography lens, the 70-200mm. I shot that lens more than any other for the decade+ that I was a wedding photographer. So much so that the zoom ring is worn flat where my thumb normally rests! I was after warblers on this outing and got a few photos I liked but then started wandering around. In the distance I heard a lot of Wood Ducks and began to follow the sound. I broke through the forest to the edge of this pond and saw them in the distance. I then laid down behind a bunch of brush on the shoreline where I could still see through and started waiting. A bit later the group of a dozen or so made their way to my shoreline and there I was photographing Wood Ducks with a 70-200mm lens. This image is 200mm at f/2.8 which gave a nice look, especially with the out of focus textures on the top and right from shooting through the brush. The second out of focus duck in the background was a nice addition as well I thought.
